Hincapie, Brilliant in the Mountians!?
Congrads to George Hincapie (Discovery Channel Cycling team) for wining today's brutal Pyreneen stage of the Tour de France. It was a truly wicked stage with SIX categorized climbs in the scorching sun of southern France and northern Spain! Georges ride today was an incredible display of depth from a rider most consider to be a classics specialist.
The tribute to fallen Motorola team mate Fabio Casartelli was evident as riders have wrist bands to commemorate him. I remember watching the tour coverage when I was 19 with my best friend and racing buddy JC when the young Fabio Casartelli crashed, it was shocking. It is great to see the helmet rule finally being accepted in the European pelton.
Well as far as I go, I am taking a break this weekend no racing and no riding even. I have an infection that needs tending to.
I hope the antibiotics do the trick. I fell mostly better but as many of you know mostly is often an invitation to go train and then put yourself in the hurt locker. With 34 days left to Marathon World Championships I need to be spot on with my diet preparations, focus and training. That means get better once and then ease back into it. As my friend JC says you probably needed a break any way.
Good luck to my teammates and friends racing at Schweitzer Idaho this weeked.
Later and wash you hands!
Jeremiah
