JB's Adventure Blog: The Wooly Mammoth

Yo.

I guess it is called Mammoth Mtn because it is big, but I think it is because it is often so cold up there that a wooly mammoth would be at home. It is definitely a prehistoric looking place but anyways, enough stupid rambling.

After the Marathon I accepted the fact that I was not racing and just started to go with the flow. Larry Longo invited me to help guest commentate, which was some serious pressure not to say anything stupid, but I did. All in all, It went well and they let me run with the mic. a few times. Yikes. ...... So uh .. I was saying I made the best of it and I was glad I went. I had a really good time watching the Semi pro race. Zach almost won. It came down to a sprint finish wow!

I guess I called the races pretty good in my forecast. JHK was unstoppable and Craig just stormed the Short Track taking Wells out on the last lap. A good race for them and a bad one for JHK. He some how flatted opening the door for a now sick but then motivated Allen Obey (US U23 team) to pull a much needed spot on the box.

After the Short Track, Kyle, his dad and I helped Zach and Dave Meadows tear down so they could race the industry cup race. Man that was funny. All the managers and mechanics were out it some good costumes chasing each other around crashing and of course drinking. One of the highlights was Elka Brutzart riding down the no-fear-zone with a with a guy riding on a cooler in tow behind her folding bike. I couldn't see who was on back but it looked fun.

Just after the industry cup was Allison Dunlap's retirement party. It is sad to see her go but she has done it all in Mountain Biking and is ready to move on with life with her husband and becoming a coach. Good luck Allison.
