A Tough Day at the Office

Ok... I am having the anerobic block I thought as I panted in agony. After a good 40 min with some hills on the way to Massenutten for a warm up I punched it as hard as I could but I couldn't breath. I mean I could breath fast but I wasn't getting the O2? My legs allso felt like beached jelly fish. I suppose it didn't help that it was dumping cold rain as soon as I got a block away from my house.

I got in 3 ALL OUT efforts of 1:30 -2 mins and then I realized it wasn't happening. I gave it my best effort! I was riding in heavy cold rain and I just felt defeated but I said no way I'm giving up I will at least get in the tempo. I was about to bail on the ride and scurry home with my tail between my legs but I thought I would just ride some fun trails. I thought maybe I just need a bit of build before going for broke.

I Think it is just the thing I needed. I got the engine fired up a little and had a good time buzzing thru the rocky trails on the side of the mountain. The wet branches slaped my arms as I sped thru the snaking tracks. I even cracked a smile that would be seen only by a deer or two.

I pushed a solid pace for the 9 miles back home to stay warm. I was met by a nice surprise. Erin gave me a gift wraped box, in it was a big cozy bath robe and a hot cup of tea!

Not too bad after all.

See ya at the races.

Jeremiah.

Aspen and Evergreen.

It seems like I have too much to write about sometimes and I just have to stick to the basics of the weekend. Like "I spent as much time wating for planes and traveling as I spent actually in Aspen". But I always have more on my mind so I may also include other random clouds of thought that stick with me longer than others. For instance, I had my first head on collision with a compete stranger while on a twisty remote trail. I found the encounter interesting though he seemed much less amused as we untagled bars and shift cables. It was an older man riding with his dog and I was the hot dogging racer guy who was going too fast. I wasn't, but I was also not expecting moving obsticals comming at me from around the thick of an unusally green understory of Aspen a wild flowers. My sunday ride was one of the best trails I have ridden in CO. The Government trail. I don't know how the government is involved, but the trail is tops!
One of the aspects of travel I really enjoy is meeting fasinating new people and experience the random at its best and worst.

As reliable as evergreen the trips will be unpredictable. I guess that summs it up,
Thank for reading.

I am back in action

After being sick much of the last week and a half I am finally back in commision and hungry as ever.
Tomorrow I take of for the high country of Colorado for the the next round of the Norba series in Aspen.

I have no predictions other than that I will finish and ride as smooth as I can. I am shure to be a bit rusty but I am really happy to be heathly!

Man it feels so good to ride again.

Sweet smells of hay on a country road, a persimon sunset over the blue grey mountians during a late evening ride in the Shenandoah Valley.

Go Ride your bike NOW!

Hincapie, Brilliant in the Mountians!?

Congrads to George Hincapie (Discovery Channel Cycling team) for wining today's brutal Pyreneen stage of the Tour de France. It was a truly wicked stage with SIX categorized climbs in the scorching sun of southern France and northern Spain! Georges ride today was an incredible display of depth from a rider most consider to be a classics specialist.

The tribute to fallen Motorola team mate Fabio Casartelli was evident as riders have wrist bands to commemorate him. I remember watching the tour coverage when I was 19 with my best friend and racing buddy JC when the young Fabio Casartelli crashed, it was shocking. It is great to see the helmet rule finally being accepted in the European pelton.

Well as far as I go, I am taking a break this weekend no racing and no riding even. I have an infection that needs tending to.
I hope the antibiotics do the trick. I fell mostly better but as many of you know mostly is often an invitation to go train and then put yourself in the hurt locker. With 34 days left to Marathon World Championships I need to be spot on with my diet preparations, focus and training. That means get better once and then ease back into it. As my friend JC says you probably needed a break any way.

Good luck to my teammates and friends racing at Schweitzer Idaho this weeked.

Later and wash you hands!

Tour of France what a dance.

Man the race coverage on cycling news and velo are good but I am going nuts to watch the tour on TV.
I couldn't bare to pony up the loot to get cable for the month only to be on the road for half of it. Oh well.
The boys in Blue are rocking and Appalation native George Hincapie is still at the lead driving it for Lance. That dude is sick.

I gota run. They may have closed some time on Vino. My call is that he will get the stage but just.

Later

A NEW PR on Reddish Knob!

Today's road stage of Tour de Burg included a timed section up the imfamous Shenandoah Mountain to Reddish Knob, a category 1 climb that ascends nearly 3000ft in 10miles.

My personal record from 2002 and course record of 40:04 was bested today with a 37:52 WOW! That made my week.
I was going so hard I really though I might have a heart attack or something I sprinted the final 1/4 mile in the big ring. A feat I never thought possible.

The rest of the todays stage was a blast we rode the gravel decent down this monsterous back side of the mountain on an 8 mile down hill it was pretty nuts. The gang here was ready though. I had my 25c tires but alot of the guys had 28 c and some even had there cross rides out on this one. Lets just say the gravel was flying, thomas was descending like a mad man and had his foot out in slick track moto style. Ruben Klien and I caught the kamakasi duo of Todd Braunum and Mike Carpalin just at the foot of some final kickers for the day and I made my attack. Gotcha..

That was close, we had a really fun time on that stage.

Props to John Youngdal and Chardin for putting in the sprint power to grab the top points today.

Tomorrows last stage is some of the best trails in all the lands and yes I mean anywhere.
Brayleys and Dowels rocks!

Later yall. Jeremiah

I'll Sparro in Yellow (Tour de Burg)

The jersey has been reclaimed after my team mate Chris Eatough held it during yesterdays mountainous 4 peaks road stage.
I have the yellow jersey, It is going well but I am pretty frigging tired!

This is the hardest training block I have ever attempted! I will sleep now.

Peace JB
