THE CLIMB BACK TO THE TOP.

There are so many factors of fitness; speed, endurance strength and flexibility. Striving for improvement seems, through training makes one a more focuses disciplined and mentally tough as well as fit. Lately I feel like my attributes of fitness are hurting, I suppose the truth hurts. Fitness is all relative as well though and I can still ride a bike for a couple hours a It is really good to be on the horse again.

I suppose the opposite is also true about training and from mental focus discipline and toughness and determination one can create, shall I say forge a mountain of fitness the likes of which could be almost frightening. That is my goal.

Today I did my first moutain bike ride in a month! My back managed pretty well. The stance part was the last time I climbed Massenutten mountain I was in my finest form, crushing some Vo2 max intervals in the big ring up the 1000 ft climb. Today I was in the Granny gear pushing my heart into a level I hadn't been too and it was hard. I can normal "cruise" up the mountain at a high tempo in 14 min today took 17 plus at a higher effort. Today I realized how hard it is to do when out of shape!

It will be a long trip back to my top form but I have the time to do it. I just need some serious man hours wearing each molecule off my tires one by one.

Physical Therapy and Training.

Yo peeps.

Nothing too earth moving today, A big time return to training was news enough for me though. I had a brisk 2hr mtb ride and nearly two hours at pyhsical therapy so I was tired and hunger afterward. It is really strange to miss feelings like that but I did in all my time surfing chairs and couches during my early recovery. I talked to the therapist and he said he doesn't see a reason why I can't do La Ruta de los conquestedores, Awesome. The race looks diabolical and there is going to be some world class comp there in the form of Thomas Frishnecht and the winning duo from the trans rockies Adreas Hestler and Martin Lezarski. The Costa Ricans will still be super strong as they will be in full gear for there bigest mountian bike race.

Well thats it for now I got some ZZZ's to catch and some much need MILES!

Keep on keepin on.

The Wooly Mammoth

Yo.

I guess it is called Mammoth Mtn because it is big, but I think it is because it is often so cold up there that a wooly mammoth would be at home. It is definitely a prehistoric looking place but anyways, enough stupid rambling.

After the Marathon I accepted the fact that I was not racing and just started to go with the flow. Larry Longo invited me to help guest commentate, which was some serious pressure not to say anything stupid, but I did. All in all, It went well and they let me run with the mic. a few times. Yikes. ...... So uh .. I was saying I made the best of it and I was glad I went. I had a really good time watching the Semi pro race. Zach almost won. It came down to a sprint finish wow!

I guess I called the races pretty good in my forecast. JHK was unstoppable and Craig just stormed the Short Track taking Wells out on the last lap. A good race for them and a bad one for JHK. He some how flatted opening the door for a now sick but then motivated Allen Obey (US U23 team) to pull a much needed spot on the box.

After the Short Track, Kyle, his dad and I helped Zach and Dave Meadows tear down so they could race the industry cup race. Man that was funny. All the managers and mechanics were out it some good costumes chasing each other around crashing and of course drinking. One of the highlights was Elka Brutzart riding down the no-fear-zone with a with a guy riding on a cooler in tow behind her folding bike. I couldn't see who was on back but it looked fun.

Just after the industry cup was Allison Dunlap's retirement party. It is sad to see her go but she has done it all in Mountain Biking and is ready to move on with life with her husband and becoming a coach. Good luck Allison.

Later ya'll, keep it real.

East Coast Training Conference!

If you are a coach or are interested in coaching science you HAVE to check this out.

The Peaks Coaching Group East Coast Training Conference for Coaches and Athletes in Bedford VA. is coming up next month!

Joe Freil of Training Bible will be there I think you would get a ton out of the Seminar if you attended. It will be one of the premier training seminars on cycling in the country this
year. I just can't believe that EVERY serious cyclist in Virginia or in the mid Atlantic doesn't want to attend. Just the opportunity to talk to Joe Friel one on one, or discuss Lactate testing with Steve Neal, or freaking learn the
whole sEMG stuff from the MAN himself- Tom Coleman of wobblenaught...
It blows me away that people spend thousands of dollars on their racing
and equipment and when they have a chance to get some professional
education, they don't show up?
SO be there. Check out: www.peakscoachinggroup.com for more info, I will see ya there!
I will bring some serious swag to raffle off including posters, Team Trek Volkswagen racing uniforms and some rad VW gifts too.

Keep ya posted.

Mammoth Mountain, the New 9.9 unveiled!

I got the word from the Trek high court of corperate big wigs "and ear rings" that they would like me to go and hang out at Mammoth despite my not being ready to compete due to my bones still healing and stuff.

The good news is that I should be able to ride. I feel like a lazy slob for not riding for the last week. Ya gotta do what you gotta do. Rocky said that by the way and he is almost as tough as I am. :)

Yeah... as I was saying A NEW BIKE. The New bike that has been in the secret closet of the trek carbon wizards all summer!
The damn frame is a half pound lighter than the 9.8 and it has a pretty slick paint scheme to. I am sure Mark (one of the engineers) and Zap will be there for all the Q&A and I will be there spending some quality time at the tent answering questions, signing autographs and generally haveing as good I time as I can not racing. I may even spend a little time with the announcers.

Well here goes nothing.... Drum roll please... My picks for National Champions are: JHK for the XC but a close second by Adam Craig then Decker. Then for the Short Track I am going for Craig, JHK Wells then Decker.

For the Marathon Chris Eatough and Jay are going to have the big show down and Chris is going to take out Jay on the last down hill for the win! Yeah ...

As for the ladies I think It is going to be the Allison Dunlap Show. She will be on a mission. I think Dara will go well, perhaps second. And for the short track Haywood is going to lay down the big sprint win!

Well any way I will be there and get to see. My goal for the weekend will be to get first results on the WEB! Fred at Velo is allways pretty slow I think the comp will come mostly from the Andy Lee at USAC though of by many as the underdog of cycling gerbalism.. I mean Jounalism.

Ok I need to go do something productive.. Not that hangin with you guys isn't fun but I have been on the computer all stinking day.

Shout out to my hommes at JMU.

Peace; Jeremiah

I wonder what Rolli's doing?

The wedding plans.

Yeah.. it's one month to go! Wow.

Erin and I are are up to our hips in the details. We have been debating about where to go on the honeymoon, I have always whanted to go to Hawaii so thats the pick. It is expensive but there are few places of such stunning contrasts and beauty. Land, sky and water meet to make deserts canyons rainforests and volcano's. Sweet!

As Erin said she is worried my idle time now is going to mean I will be ants in the pants crazy to ride bikes by then. I told her I will get the workouts done early if I do anything. I'm shure to at least run and swim alot. ;) Isn't Iron Man going on in a month? Just kidding.

For our wedding presents to each other we are getting Trek Town and Country cruisers! They are going to be fun to cruze around Harrisonburg on.

I learned today while at Advantage Physical therapy from a professional patient where the word came from.... "To be a good pateint takes alot of pateints". Said a mother with on going foot problems. Young grasshopper you have alot to learn yet, I thought.

Later peeps.

Thanks for reading: Jeremiah

I wonder what Nick Martin's doing?

A Busy Day of Spectating!

There was an unusual flurry of racing action today with our team doing some solid race winning! From the World Mtn Bike Championships in Italy, the Vuelta, 24 hrs of Adrenalin and the Shenandoah 100.... OH, and the San Fran Grand Prix, geez! There was some serious racing. Unusually, I wasn't part of any of it but I managed to enjoy it. I spent a good part of the day on the internet and on the phone to get the dirt... Get it the dirt? Puns aside, I think I knew a few people in each one of those races except the Vuelta. Maybe even...

So Congrats to Chris Eatough and Todd Helmick on today's wins. Chris won another hard fought 24-hour battle where the elements turned against the racers with cold driving rain just before dawn. And Todd captured his first Shenandoah 100 Miler win! Awesome..

Oh, as I was saying, I spent some of the afternoon spectating and helping my buddy Chris Scott, though it was amusing to see the looks on peoples faces as I volunteered last night and today at aid station #6, "Hey why aren't you racing" was the question. That sucked, but I did have fun to see everybody pushing it and really enjoying the day.

Later, JB
