American Mountian Bike Classic Aftermath

Last week's American Mountain Classic stage race was really exciting! Epic courses, great competition and huge prize money made for a fantastic first year event.

Don't ask me how a 10+ hour mountain bike stage race could come down to five seconds, but after four successful days of tight racing to defend the leader's jersey, I needed to wind down. My legs were sore and felt heavy for days. I could laugh though knowing I closed the deal. This weekend's NMBS won't hold a candle to the excitement of this once in a lifetime experience.

Monday I went down to Parowan to get some air and hang out with Show Air rider and expert fly fisherman Mani Prado. Lucky for me he had an extra rod, so we went to the hunt'n store to get fishing licenses and gawk at the pictures of once beautiful animals that people had killed. I could definitely go hunting, but it would be for some food.

Anyhow, the highlight of the week was a ride with Mani, Todd Braunum and I did at a famous local trail called Thunder Mountain. The ride was like a cross between the roller coaster Anaconda and taking a saucer sled down the side of the grand canyon.
For sure this was one of my favorite west coast trails of all time. Just amazing colors and flowing trail with tight turns! Our faces hurt from our perma grins!

WICKED!!
