I knew it was a questionable plan to head to a local mountain bike race despite a major snow storm bearing down on the mid atlantic.
Well it worked out! I got to race in a full snow track slip N slide two wheel drift course. TJ would have loved. it. As is my tradition in smaller races I started on the back row. Little did I know the course is almost all single track. After alot of action. I made my way to the front around halfway into lap 1. Joe Frish and Jared Neiters where at the helm. Jared flatted and then my rear tired went soft. Needless to say I got the workout I came for. I chased after gassing the soft rear tire and chased like mad to catch up and take over the lead for good!
The drive back from the race was even more sketchy, I fought to maintain control of the Element as I watched other cars careen off the road. You would have thought they used butter to pre treat the road.
Event the interstate (81) was closed in both directions near Mt. Jackson. I ended up taking back road thru the country. It took 4 hours but it is rare to see such amazing veiws and race in the SNOW! .
The game plan is to enjoy a few more snow workouts and then I am out of here for some training in Clemson.
