Working in Warrenton

In case you can't keep up with my nomadic lifestyle, I have been in Warrenton since last week... no Harrisonburg weekend for me. I had a cold and since I wasn't going on the Georgia Tour I might as well stick around the farm for the weekend. Mom and Dad humored me when we went to Lowe's. They bought all the paint and tools I needed to totally re-do my bedroom at their house. It was sad painting over the pink I picked out when I was 5, but it looks AWESOME now! I am not going to want to leave :) Or as Jeremiah says, it was good practice for the house to come. Who wants to help tear down some wallpaper!? I will supply the drinks!

Tonight is the SMBC monthly meeting. Be there!

This weekend Jeremiah and I are heading up to New Jersey. I think we are going to be , dare I say it, spectators for a change. The Crank Bros Gran Prix of Cyclocross is going to be happening nearby the banquet we are attending. Should be lot of fun, I can't wait to see the rest of the team and everyone from the Mid Atlantic series.

The next few weeks are going to be a whirlwind, if you want to help put things in boxes, carry boxes, or unpack boxes.... you are mine :)

Peace,
E North

10th Annual Invitational & Home Buying

This was quite the exciting weekend in the Burg. The fun started on Thursday night, after breakfast night dinner at the Grill, when the masses gathered at Wolfe St for the ceremonial name draw that determined starting order for the 10th annual 6-Pak Invitational Downhill. Number plates and t-shirts were extra stylin this year. I drew Jeremiah's name from the hat! Good times and a great way to get pumped up for a fun filled weekend.

Friday was pretty busy, we tried to get a ton of stuff done before the Invitational. The home buying process is hectic! I spent the midday with Kelly getting some drinks at the Dodger and doing some sleuthy window shopping around the Square. We had a blast, and Kelly got ready to watch her first 6-pak.

DOWNHILL!
It was pretty muddy down low in the shadows of the Nutt, but once we got above all the stream crossings, the trails pitched up pretty quick and things dried out. Made it to the top just in time for my start and to fix a flat that slowly leaked the whole climb up to Kaylor's Knob. Thank god for Joel and Jill! The descent was so much fun despite my endo into the woods going into the 2nd of the 6 switchbacks. So, Kelly got to see her first wreck and I got a lessen in bike maintenance. oh well... the spectating was a good as ever! I'm going to look up my time and post the names of any JMU boys that I beat down the mountain, hope there will be none, but be warned. The Quinns are maniacs and Tim was flying, and I really don't know how he managed to do it but Jeremiah won this year. All I could do was scream "Be Careful!" when he blazed by us into the switchbacks.

PARTY!
We'll post some pics when they emerge. Polyester costumes and wigs were everywhere, the slideshow brought back memories from the Invitationals past, everyone roared during the results, and the dancing was unusually controlled. But, we did leave before the cops came, so things got crazier into the morning.

HOUSE!
My parents came to town for lunch at Calhoun's and then to tour the house during the inspection. We had a great time checking out the place for about 3 hours. Turns out the backyard property line extends twice as far as we thought! The list for potential roomies is growing as word spreads. Mom took lots of pictures and has tons of ideas for decorating and painting.

Monday, though not as exciting as the rest of the weekend I am getting a lot done, including ear tube surgery this morning. Sweet, I can hear again! The house, mortgage info, website, and job hunting is keeping me busy for today, back to work at the hospital tomorrow!
