Who Updates The Blog More?

Me, and I am sick. I haven't gotten out of bed in 48 hours.

Jeremiah has ridden his bike 12 of those 48 hours. He has probably slept for 22 more hours. Despite my attempts to keep him from monopolizing the bathroom upstairs, he has taken at least 3 hours of hot/cold baths. He has claimed to be working on bikes for 3 hours. 2 hours on the phone strategizing with Hunter (patient, patient man). There was that grocery run last night that took 3 hours, but he did flowers home to me. Then there is eating and recovering.... wow. I can see why he isn't blogging.

Never fear, the racing season begins in 5 DAYS. Then there will be plenty of downtime in hotel and airport lobbies. Can it really be that time of year already?

Back to getting better.

Great Day for a Hike

After a spin to Mr J's this morning the guys rolled out of town for the instant-classic 12 Pack Ride. They rode mtn bikes from town on a loop up and over the Nutt and hit two of the classic 6 PaCk downhills along the way. I'm jealous, but still waiting on my bike to be repaired.

I packed up some peanut butter and honey sandwiches and headed out on my own adventure on Massanutten Mountain. Planned to hike in on Fridley's Gap and meet the guys on top of the ridge before they hit the descent, but I took the "other" trail by accident and hoofed it straight up the side of the mountain. A very cool overlook, but no guys, at the top.

Todd says there should be more pictures on the site, so I am going to read this dreamweaver instructional manual and get it together.

In the meantime:

Save Some Trails!

Okay kids, Wilderness is good... except that bikes are not allowed. I don't need to spell it out so you can use the links below to make a call or write and email. If you are in Virginia, get in touch with George Allen, he is a nice guy, and let him know that you are in favor of protecting the land but human powered recreation (biking) is at risk.

For more info, you can check out IMBA's website. Some contacts are linked below.

Snow Day

I rolled out of bed this morning and caught a glimpse outside of an unexpected snowfall. For some reason I was filled with childish excitement and I actually ran downstairs to tell Kelly school might be cancelled… I think she was amazed at my enthusiasm, especially considering I graduated last May.

We went to get breakfast at Mr. J’s (free. courtesy of the Welcome Wagon) and pick up some copies of the Breeze. Then Ken came over and filmed our “parting shot” for the movie. Jeremiah had a great excuse to throw snowballs at me and I learned that he has got pretty good aim.

Since we aren’t at Whitegrass today, we are going to enjoy staying inside and working on the house. I am going to touch up a few spots in the foyer where the paint peeled when I took up the blue masking tape and Jeremiah is going to lend a hand by sanding our front door.

It’s going to be a fun filled weekend in the Burg. If you are heading to town for the movie, you should call first and sure up some sleeping plans… because our place has already reached maximum capacity. We are planning a “Shots to Athens” bike ride/drinking tour around the neighborhood on the way to the theatre. So far the route includes our place, the Herrick’s, and Tim’s. Following the movie there is a schmooze-fest at SBC followed by the Super Hero par-tay. Woo Woo

I will update the site more often, I swear.
