Festivities

The holiday season officially blew in last night with our first taste of snow here in Harrisonburg. It was quiet the post-card moment. I was baking pumpkin pies, Cornish game hens and stuffing, listening to holiday music and talking on the phone with my mom when I noticed a delivery truck's headlights outside the front window. I turned on the porch light to see steady snow falling, it had already covered the sidewalk and cars! The delivery man handed me some brown paper packages tied up with string - really, they were - "The Bishop's" first Christmas gifts.
We have a festive Thanksgiving weekend ahead of us. Tonight we feast with the Bishop side of the family. The next morning, my brother, Josh, arrives for the fun. We are going to catch up on some just-released movie watching at the theatre and hike out to Singers Glen to search for a Christmas tree. My parent's will join us on Saturday afternoon, when we are all going to Paul and Heather's wedding. Ah, to be a guest, how pleasant it will be to watch someone else amidst the dress, the flowers, the cake and champagne.
Sunday morning we are going to hit my favorite brunch spot in town, Calhouns! Bring on the eggs benedict, please. Because no weekend in the Bishop house can end on a quiet note, we are going to head over to Fairfax for the UCI Capitol 'Cross race. I may be bundled up on the sidelines instead of being bundled up on the startline, but I am excited to cheer Jeremiah on. Its been a while since our last cross races. Guess that's what happens when you get burnt out on cold mud in Napa.
I hope that you have a Happy Thanksgiving holiday weekend! Drive and ride safely where your adventures may take you.
If we're not in the 'Burg, you can find us at Whitegrass :)
