Bishop to Compete in 2009 Dirt Sweat and Gears
Competition Gets Deep for 2009 Event
Fayetteville, Tennessee - Dirt, Sweat and Gears race promoters announced today that Jeremiah Bishop will make the journey from the Virginia Hills to test the mettle of the heavy hitters of the endurance world. "The competition is going to be great and it's going to be an adventure," said Bishop.
Returning 2008 DSG champion and MonaVie-Cannondale.com teammate Tinker Juarez promises to give Bishop a solid run for the money. And with the likes of Josh Tostado, Harlan Price and Brandon Draugelis the men's solo race will be a battle royale.
An event record-high $11,000 pro purse will be up for grabs, with $1500 going to first place in the men's, women's and single speed open categories. The now legendary Schwag-O-Rama will be in full swing for the third year with $15,000 worth of complete bikes, frames, wheel sets and bike gear to be given away just for entering. Title Sponsor Moots Cycles of Steamboat has generously donated a handmade ti frame to go to one lucky soul on the night of May 9th. Each $10 donation to SORBA will be an opportunity to "Take Home a Moots." The donations will in turn help SORBA with their mission in promoting land access, trail preservation and new trail development. Talk about win-win!
The weekend's festivities will kick off Friday, May 8 with the demo trucks on site from 10-4 p.m, an autograph and question/answer session with Rebecca Rusch and Jeremiah Bishop, and a Friday night 20" wheel time trial – one bike, one lap on the infield.
"I'm stoked to check out Dirt Sweat and Gears because it's an event that's built up a great reputation as not only a great race but one with a festival atmosphere," said Bishop. "Having a good time is what this sport's all about, right?"
Dirt, Sweat and Gears - Dirt Sweat & Gears is a USAC Ultra Endurance Series 12-hour Mountain Bike Race and Festival that takes place on the weekend of May 9, 2009. Last year DSG hosted 300 racers from 31 states competing for a $10,000 cash purse and walking away with over $15,000 of schwag including complete bikes, frames, and most importantly, great memories.
