Virginia State Marathon comeback 🏆!
Muddy conditions lead to a chaotic race. The young guns set a blasting pace on lap one of the big climb to the top of the mountain. I lost contact and Mason Allen took off in the DH putting a few minutes into us and I was not feeling great physically or technically. Had fun just getting thru the course with the young gun 15-17 year olds in the Chase group. Jackson Cooe and Nate Beaver. We were 3 minutes down and the race seemed lost.
Last lap I committed to full gas pace up the climb w Jackson and he was Riping, got my mojo back and to my great surprise we were able to catch the leader w 3 miles left! But there was the whole sprint issue left. The slight uphill slow drag was a good one to lead from the front. I got lucky and held my lead to the line! Goes to show you have to try you best even we hope is lost 😁
